Pensacola is America’s first European settlement, founded in 1559 by Spanish Conquistador, Don Tristan de Luna. Since that time, five different flags have flown over the city, earning it the nickname “City of Five Flags”. The Spanish, French, British, Confederate and American flags are part of the city’s 450 year heritage and The Fiesta of Five Flags continues to celebrate this heritage with one of the oldest and largest annual festivals in Florida.

Four military forts, including Fort Pickens and Fort Barrancas, also still stand in the area and are open for tours daily.
